2020 Devon Open Studios Event
It is that time of year again! Devon Open Studios is set to begin on Saturday 12th September. With over 200 local artists, sculptors, creators and galleries opening their doors to the public. Many artists are not only showcasing and selling work but some are also offering talks and demonstrations as well as letting people have a go.
At Isca Fine Art we have had the pleasure of working with a number of the wonderfully talented people being showcased as part of Devon Open Studios and we wanted to share with you a few of our customers and how you can visit and see their work.
We have packed and exporting sculptures for Dominic for many years. The beautiful sculptures he builds can often be found displayed in gardens as well as inside homes and galleries. Made from stone, they are extremely heavy, and not easy to move, so this needs to be considered when packing and delivering these beautiful works of art. At Isca we work closely with Dominic to understand each sculpture prior to packing to ensure we have put in place the necessary measures to protect each piece.
You can see some of Dominic’s work during the Open Studios event at Ford Park, Chagford, Devon, TQ13 8EX or on his website www.dominicwelch.com
Isca Fine Art has recently worked with Yvonne on a number of paintings she wanted to be packed and shipped. Some being exported to customers in the United States others heading off to locations within Europe. It’s always such a pleasure to work with artists and see their work. Yvonne creates her pieces outside allowing the elements to play a role in the final look of each piece. In her words “My work is a rich vibrant sparkling seduction of colour. It celebrates mystery, magic and love.”
You can visit Yvonne during September (excluding Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays) at Unit E, Scope Complex, Wills Road, Totnes, TQ9 SXN and see more of her work on her website https://www.yvonnecoomber.com.
Steve Robinson Glass
I visited Steve over a year ago to offer our services and could not have timed it better. We were able to offer our services in the following weeks to ship a glass splashback for him. Each piece he creates is so individual and beautiful. Seeing his studio and how he works was also a privilege. When shipping something as large and fragile as glass panels having a dedicated packing warehouse and team ensures the safest measures are put in place prior to export.
To visit the studio and see the glass masterpieces first-hand head to Unit 6, Coombe Park Craft Studios, Ashprington, Totnes, TQ9 7DY. (Please note some days visits are not available to see Devon Open Studios Guide for more info) Or visit their website at https://www.steverobinsonglass.com
Artizan Gallery & Artisan Collective Gallery
Artizan Gallery and Artizan Collective Gallery continue to join in the celebrations of Devon Open Studios. They are hosting their annual English Riviera Summer Open Exhibition during the Devon Open Studios event. The galleries will be displaying work from over 70 local artists offering a look at the incredible talent we have in the South West. One of the artists being showcased will be bursary winner William Mills his work has been described as Turneresque and his show-stopping large abstracts have won him the acclaim of this year’s Joanna Radford Award.
To visit Artizan gallery head to 7 Lucius Street, Torquay, TQ2 5UW or visit their website to find out more about their Summer Open Exhibition. www.art-hub.co.uk/ex/dos20
